Erik & Anna Novoa on Saturday, March 10th, 2012 Erik & Anna Novoa will be in the Hudson Valley for a series of Hustle & West Coast Swing Workshops, Private Lessons, and Dance Erik Novoa has been an integral part of developing and maintaining West Coast Swing and Hustle at some of New York City's major dance studios such as DanceSport, Empire Dance, Stepping Out, You Should Be Dancing and the prestigious STEPs On Broadway, where many of Broadway's best dancers take class. Erik has been competing in West Coast Swing since 1998. In that time, he has risen to compete in the Invitational division. He has placed top-10 at the US Open in the Classic Division three times and has excelled in Strictly Swing and Jack & Jill competitions at numerous national events, including a 1st place with Swing Fling 2011 with Deonna Ball (click here to see the video). Erik crossed over into Hustle in 2000 and immediately rose to the top by winning 1st place in the Professional Classic Division at Hustle USA 2001, a feat that he also repeated in 2002 to make him a reigning 2-year champion. Anna Novoa, originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, combines the discipline of classical ballet with the creativity of partner dancing. She trained and performed in both classical and modern styles and also competed in ballroom/Latin dance while at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After pursuing her Master's Degree in Biochemistry at the University of Chicago, Anna moved to New York City in 2005, having been inspired by a summer dance program at Alvin Ailey. Anna & Erik have recently performed in contemporary ballet pieces "Ordinary Day" (Choreographed by Erik & Anna) and "The Player" (Choreographed by Anna). She is known throughout the northeast for her "Spins, Turns & Technique" classes for partner dancing. Erik & Anna are one of the only couples in the country to have a competitive West Coast Swing and Hustle routine in the circuit.
